Sika Emseal Expands, Again
New Manufacturing Plant, Training Facility, and Wabo® Product Integration at 23 Bridle Lane
December 2024 — Sika Emseal, a leader in commercial expansion joint and fire-rated sealant solutions, has announced the addition of a new expansion joint manufacturing plant located at 23 Bridle Lane in Westborough, MA. This expansion marks a significant investment in Sika Emseal’s production capabilities, aiming to bolster its supply chain, support customer demand, and enhance service speed across the globe.
The new facility, adjacent to the existing plant at 25 Bridle Lane, will expand Sika Emseal’s production capacity. Previously, the 25 Bridle Lane plant was responsible for manufacturing and supply of six key product lines; RoofJoint, Thermaflex, BG, Emcrete, the FP (For Plaza) Systems, and Migua Interior Covers. With the addition of the Wabo® line of commercial expansion joint products, the company has now integrated an additional 22 product lines, including specialized systems for commercial parking structures, stadiums, and interior expansion joints. This integration enables Sika Emseal to provide a comprehensive range of products for a variety of demanding environments and high-traffic applications.
Adding to the company’s momentum is the remarkable growth of RoofJoint, Emseal’s fastest-growing product. RoofJoint, a specialized expansion joint for roofing applications, has become a preferred solution in the industry due to its durability, waterproofing capabilities, and ease of installation. The precompressed RoofJoint wall closure is the first roof expansion joint system to offer a purpose-designed, patented, transition from the roof edge to wall joints. The expansion at Bridle Lane will support this increased demand for RoofJoint, ensuring Sika Emseal can maintain production levels and respond to the product’s rapid growth.
The 23 Bridle Lane facility will also allow for a significant increase in factory-welded transitions, a specialized process that ensures precise, high-quality joints for complex building designs and a sealed, safe, and energy efficient building enclosure. By expanding factory-welded transition capacity, Sika Emseal can better meet the growing demand for these labor-intensive customizations, enhancing both the efficiency and durability of the expansion joint installations provided to customers.
The new facility will also feature a dedicated expansion joint training center, specifically designed to provide hands-on, in-depth training for contractors, engineers, architects, property owners, and building envelope consultants. The training center will host the SWRI-validated expansion joint training program and offer courses on expansion joint installation, design, types, failures analysis, and best practices, equipping industry professionals with the expertise required for designing, specifying, and installing expansion joints in diverse construction applications.
In keeping with Sika’s commitment to sustainability, the combined manufacturing operations at Bridle Lane will be equipped with advanced production lines to produce both Sika Emseal and Wabo® branded products, creating a streamlined supply for customers and enabling Sika Emseal to respond swiftly to market demands. By expanding the manufacturing of these 28 product lines, Sika Emseal can better meet the needs of clients across multiple sectors, including commercial construction, sports facilities, and healthcare.
Alongside boosting production, the new plant, training center, and expanded factory-welded transition capacity are anticipated to generate significant job opportunities in the local community. Sika Emseal is actively hiring skilled workers for roles in engineering, production, quality control, and logistics, with plans to further expand the workforce as the facility reaches full operational capacity.
This expansion highlights Sika Emseal’s dedication to innovation, quality, and comprehensive solutions in the sealant and waterproofing industry. However, it’s not just about products; Successful projects, delivered on time, on or under budget, and with the lowest total-cost of ownership to the property owner are the product of a deliberate effort on the part of all involved parties. We have proved over the past 35 years that projects with trouble-free and lasting expansion joint systems are not only possible but practically achieved and routine.
With the new Bridle Lane plant, integrated training center, increased factory-welded transition capacity, and extensive Wabo® product line, Sika Emseal strengthens its role as an industry leader focused on high-performance products, industry education, and customer satisfaction.
