The Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, home to Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music sits magnificently on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Seismic Colorseal brings harmony where modern meets brutalism

“FROZEN MUSIC” is how poet Goethe described architecture. The Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, home to Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, is a pure expression of the sentiment. Seismic Colorseal makes the literal connection between the new modern building and the brutalist existing Regenstein Hall. Overall, a triumph of design by Goettsch Partners, planning by Sasaki Associates, and acoustical engineering by Kirkegaard Associates. LEED Gold certification is a fitting encore.

Not straightforward. The corrugated and cantilevered facade of Regenstein Hall, caused some interesting directional changes in the joint. Seismic Colorseal was easily configured to ensure continuity of seal.
