Watertight Expansion Joints and Construction Sealants by EMSEAL

333 Commerce Street (AT&T Building), Nashville

Tennessee

Date: 2021, 2022

At 333 Commerce Street in downtown Nashville, the 33-story office tower known as the AT&T Building or “Batman Building” stands as the tallest building in Tennessee at 617 feet. Designed as a flagship corporate headquarters and completed in 1994, the building underwent renovation in 2022 to address performance requirements across a large-scale office tower after three decades of service.

The nine-story underground parking structure and plaza deck at grade, combined with the building’s age and scale, required expansion joint replacement and resealing across horizontal and wall assemblies.

Sika Emseal expansion joint systems were specified for the renovation scope. At horizontal conditions, DSM System provides watertight performance at deck and parking structure joints. At wall conditions, Seismic Colorseal accommodates movement at exterior wall joints across the building envelope.

These systems support watertightness and movement across critical joint conditions in large-scale office renovation and expansion joint replacement projects.
