DSM SYSTEM Installation in Metal

DSM SYSTEM retrofit of failed compression seal expansion joints in metal-angle-edged parking deck joints.

Generally, it is better to remove metal angles from the deck edge and repair the edges with EMCRETE or a cementitious, structural repair mortar. Where this is not feasible, DSM SYSTEM can be installed into the metal angles. Before installation, it is critical to sandblast or grind the faces of the metal angles to clean, white metal. A quick solvent wipe precedes installation of the EMSEAL-supplied epoxy to the substrates.

Joined piece of DSM foam is pushed into the face of the already installed stick. The join between the two sticks is held above the deck surface until the adjoining stick is seated in the joint…

…the DSM foam on both sides of the join is then eased into final position. This method ensures a tight compression-fit between the joined faces.
