The installation of BEJS on this bridge was done in two phases to minimize traffic disruption.
Phase I was done in the breakdown and slow lanes in the morning. At the lower left of this photo the sandblasted (white) angles and newly installed BEJS from the morning’s installation are seen.
Installation of the fast and middle lanes began at 11:00 pm.
Nighttime traffic, primarily tractor-trailer semi commerce traffic, continued unimpeded throughout installation.
Blasting with black beauty to remove residue of failed silicone liquid sealant joint.
Mixing the BEJS epoxy adhesive.
Troweling the BEJS epoxy onto the joint face.
Inserting the first stick of BEJS into wet epoxy on joint faces. Set to 1/2″ from top of metal angles.
The removed hardboard and shrink-wrap packaging is on the deck to the workers left.
Applying the joining silicone to seal the butt joins
and inserting the next stick, leaving the join proud of the deck until rest of the stick is installed.
