Measure bridge joint width and match it to material size Mixing Bridge Expansion Joint System epoxy (L) After the expansion gap on curb has been sanded and cleaned of debris, the gap width is remeasured to match the appropriate-width BEJS product.

(R) Epoxy parts A & B are mixed.
(L) Epoxy is applied to the concrete substrate walls.

(R) After the first Universal-90 transition has been inserted into the lower road-level horizontal joint, with the 90-degree upturn exposed, it is measured to assure a 1/2-inch (12mm) recession from the surface.
(L) The vertical distance from the upturn to the horizontal curb is measured to determine the proper fitting length of the joining downturn universal-90 piece.

(R) The foam and bellows of the downturn are cut to to create the proper vertical length.
(L) After being cut, the exposed end of the downturn silicone bellows is coated with silicone before it is placed in the gap.

(R) The exposed end of the installed silicone upturn bellows is coated with a layer of the same EMSEAL-supplied silicone sealant

(L) & (R) The Universal-90 downturn transition is inserted into the expansion gap, mating with the upturn transition forming a single watertight transition.
(L) The last piece of the BEJS expansion joint run (in this particular installation) a Universal-90 downturn, should have its entire exposed silicone/foam face coated with silicone to complete the seal.

(R) The final Universal-90 downturn is inserted at the outer curb edge.

(L) Silicone is inserted between the upper edge of the foam and the substrate gap. This is followed by the application of a silicone bead. This completes the watertight bond at the curb surface.

(R) The silicone bead is tooled smooth.

(L) & (R) The foam will expand and the silicone cures quickly allowing for almost immediate traffic on the roadway curb.
